What does School Counseling look like at LPS?
- As your School Counselor, I will work with your child in three different areas - Academic, College & Career (yes...even at LPS!), and Social/Emotional. Counseling looks at the student as a whole, and understands there are several avenues of a child that can affect all areas of educational achievement. As the counselor, I will work with students as well as teachers and parents - to ensure all areas are being addressed and allow your child to have the BEST opportunity to be successful.
- Counseling happens through classroom, individual, and group counseling sessions.
- Classroom Lessons - each month, I meet with every classroom for a 30 minute lesson on a specific topic - following the ABC's of Integrity and Core Essentials.
- Individual Counseling - I will meet with students on an individual basis from a referral from their teacher, the principal, or from parents. Individual counseling topics may include friendship, conflict resolution, bullying, divorce, anxiety, separation anxiety, respect, grief, honesty, and self-esteem.
- Group Counseling - groups are formed from student needs each year.

INTEGRITY!
- Integrity and Core Essential Values Lessons
- Teaching our students about integrity is the BEST part of my job! Through books, games, songs, & fun activities, our students learn the importance of choosing "what is true and good and right!"
- Integrity Slips & Kids of Integrity
- Our students may earn "Integrity Slips" throughout the week as they are caught displaying INTEGRITY/Core traits. On Friday at lunch, two slips are drawn for each class & these children are the "Kids of Integrity" for the week.
- Serving Others Selflessly (S.O.S.)
- S.O.S. is the part of our Integrity Time program that provides our students heart-changing opportunities to help others. This is just the right age to begin building a foundation of SERVING OTHERS that will last a lifetime. Through service projects that help others, our students learn the value of generosity, helping, and loving others. They learn to put others' needs before their own.
